amy, amy, amy
the last time i actually cared about the passing of a famous person in 2008 with yves saint laurent. i cried the entire day and went on to write a blogpost about it, in tribute to my favourite couturier of all time. and so it only seems appropriate to do the same for amy winehouse, who not only was celebrated for her music, but also for her style.

hi, i'm dylan →
randomly just found this style blog on the claire’s accessories site. dylan is their resident blogger for the month of july, and she’s got great style (check out that hair!)
claire’s tends to be targeted towards younger girls, and so a lot of the readers are just starting to venture into finding out their own style. some of them even already have their own blogs! so inspiring....

karma police
dude… remember karma beads?! i was browsing the accessories at new look today and i found a set of beads like these (but in different colours):
5 row stretch bracelet, new look
it totally took me back to when i was like 13 and karma beads were all the rage. it’s crazy how you can’t even buy them anymore except from new age shops. i have such a craving to start wearing them...

a whole new wardrobe
i just moved into a new place and am currently undergoing the challenge of trying to fit all of my clothes, shoes, and accessories into the storage space i have available. in my last place, i had a full double wardrobe with two large shelves above it, as well as a few box shelves, and a large chest of drawers. storage of epic proportions, although i didn’t realise it at the time! my new...

tourist tees
when i travel, i don’t often buy souvenirs, and if i do, it’s rarely a tshirt. one reason for this is that i have too many tshirts that i never wear, but another reason is because for the most part, women’s tourist tees are just lame. there’s no nice way of saying it. they’ll usually have some combination of flowers, butterflies and swirly text, and be available...

brown eyed girl
i’m not a make-up girl. at all. for the best part of the past five years, i’ve generally only ever worn plain black liquid eyeliner and mascara, and occasionally some concealer.
circa 2006
last weekend when i was shopping in san francisco, i stopped in to sephora to get some ideas for new day makeup, and most importantly, some help in applying it. i was assisted by a girl who...

the fashion race
i’ve been thinking a lot recently about identity, and in particular, race and sexuality. when combined with fashion, i think that these two things are kind of like religion; when it’s part of your identity, it’ll often lead you to adopt a certain way of dressing (but not necessarily). but if it’s not part of your identity, it can be considered disrespectful to try and imitate...
